Canoe Paddle Making with Lina and Lizzie 9th, 10th and 11th October 2020

Make your own canoe paddle items using traditional tools in a beautiful woodland setting. Lizzie and Lina are canoe coaches who understand the elements that make a great traditional canoe paddle. They are also experienced green wood workers who will teach you how to use axe, knife and mocotaugan (crooked knife) to make your own paddle the traditional way.
This is a 2 day workshop - arrive from 4pm on Friday and finish at 4pm on Sunday.
Friday afternoon arrive from 4pm onwards and set up camp. You can choose whether to camp in the woods near our expedition style base camp (composting toilets), or, a short walk away at the camping area next to the Woodland Skills Centre (flushing toilets and showers).
Friday Set up camp and introductions. Dinner will be at 7.00pm
Saturday History and context of the skills we will use and the items we will make. Introduction to the Mocotaugan (crooked knife), axe and knife.

Sunday
Finish the paddles and other projects.
Finish crafting session at 4pm Pack up camp and depart.
Evening meals are included. Camping is either at the centre's small camp site, or wild camping in the woods
